Disposition:


❋ LEVELHEADED: Not prone to emotional extremes for the most part – unless something goes terribly, catastrophically wrong, which she does her best to avoid at all costs. Explosive outbursts tend to come with a side dish of 'murdering everything in a mile radius' where shiftlings are involved.

❋ ELUSIVE: She'll talk you around in circles if you let her. Lying by omission is an old favorite of hers, not speaking much about herself in any concrete detail while being quite happy to allow assumptions to fill in the gaps in the meantime. Think she's just a regular ol' human? Great. She won't tell you otherwise.

❋ ISOLATED: Having spent most of her life fending for herself in the demon-haunted mountains and countryside of feudal Japan, Hide views humanity as a whole with a great deal of suspicion – while not outright hostile, she's been given the torches and pitchforks treatment enough to be wary by default.

❋ VENGEFUL: One of the few traits that outs her for what she truly is under the guise of humanity. Hide nurses a visceral, all-consuming hatred for Otakemaru; an ancient, malevolent yokai that's wronged her in the past. The manic drive to hunt him across the length and breadth of the country during a bloody civil war spanned nearly a century; a testament to just how potent that hatred is.



Abilities:


❋ HYBRID: As touched on briefly, Hide's not as she first appears to be. Rather, she's what's called a "shiftling" – not quite human, not quite demon – and therefore has inherited traits from both parents.
For all intents and purposes she's a yokai on Low Battery Mode™ doing her very best to blend in.

❋ YOKAI SHIFT: The panic button, and every half-demon's ace in the hole, carefully reserved for emergencies. A surge of energy that allows her to step into full-blooded demon shape for a short period of time, gaining a boost to strength and speed. Comes with the not-inconsiderable risk of losing her humanity entirely if abused too often.

❋ SWORDSMANSHIP: omae wa mou shindeiru intensifies Unsurprising considering the time period, but Hide is competent in wielding a katana like any other self-respecting samurai... too bad she's hilariously extra and wears an additional pair of wakizashi like the turbo weeb she is. Why have one sword when three sword chop better? Checkmate, atheists.

❋ NINJUTSU: The stereotypical array of Sneaky Ninja Shit™. Caltrops, blinding smoke, paralytic gas, throwing knives, etc. Being outmatched/outnumbered on the regular, you really can't turn your nose up at unsavory tactics if you want to keep all your limbs, you know? tl;dr she'll cheat like hell and won't feel the least bit guilty about it.

❋ SOHAYAMARU: A mysterious golden tanto that glows with an eerie inner light – canonically the macguffin that gives her immortality. That's bullshit as heckie for general rp though so for now it's just a neat knife.

❋ CLOTHING: Oiled leather, dark cloth, and thin, flexible steel scales to protect the upper arms and chest.
